Tuerce

Tuerce is an artistic research project by Venezuelan-born transmasculine artist Euyín Eugene, which places gender dysphoria at the center, proposing a space for dialogue and expanded exploration through the artistic practices of trans and non-binary creators.

This proposal arises from the intention of generating, through artistic creation, spaces to share and reflect on gender dysphoria with those who experience it—seeking to move it away from stigma and instead develop new registers and nuances that serve not only the trans community but society at large.

What would dysphoria say if it could speak through a body? Euyín asks, observing that the trans and non-binary body, through its lived experience, twists, turns, alters, diverts, mobilizes, and allows for the denaturalization of the sex-gender system.

Euyín aims to create a piece where, by placing his body at the center, voices, sounds, and textures converge to evoke the journey of a body that has chosen self-determination within the sex-gender system. He collaborates on stage with artist Íren Márquez Dos Santos, who will craft the soundscapes that traverse the scenic device. He is especially interested in the role of the audience within this device—more than confronting them, he seeks to build bridges and open questions, engaging in dialogue with an audience that is also shaped by the same system.
