La excitación del paisaje: conferencia montañera

La excitación del paisaje is an artistic research project that approaches landscape not as something given, but as a relationship: the one established between the viewer and what is being viewed. Within this intersection, landscape emerges as a field of questions about our relationship with the environment.

Body, image, and sound are activated as tools to shift this relationship and to rehearse other ways of connecting with the environment. It is not only about looking, but about asking what happens in that act, what kind of presence it produces, and how it can be transformed.

This project stems from the research process La excitación del paisaje: La roca blanda, carried out in the Pyrenees between late 2025 and early 2026. It corresponds to Landscape No. 4 and focuses on the landscapes we construct with mountains. In contrast to their scale and apparent immobility, rock—hard, heavy—is proposed as a sensitive matter: something that can be listened to, circled, imagined, and even moved. It can also be softened: its weight altered, its scale shifted, opened to other perceptions. To be seen from other viewpoints and brought closer to the body.

The project unfolds through different formats—gatherings, visual and sound materials, and a scenic device—and, in this case, takes the form of an expanded lecture: a space where the mountain attempts to overflow, soften, and narrate itself.
