Bautismo (Baptism)
Sessions Bautismo – December 20, 21, and 22 > Reservation form
Bautismo (Baptism) is an immersive piece, a private and fleeting dive into a space of care where you can leave your body suspended between the bubbles of a jacuzzi overflowing with collective liquid memories. Bautismo (Baptism) is a rite of passage, an effervescent experience in a primordial broth where one can be alone for a moment.
Created in the summer of 2021 as an antidote to the sadness and widespread fears characteristic of the pandemic months that preceded it, the piece aims to be a kind of balm, a space of both escape and reconnection. Bautismo (Baptism) is the first in a series of immersive pieces for aquatic bodies by the artist.
Bautismo (Baptism) will be open for three days (December 20, 21, and 22) with individual 30-minute sessions, by prior reservation.
Bautismo (Baptism) is a piece by Iara Solano Arana, with the support of the Teatro de La Abadía Madrid. The original idea, text, and voice are by Iara Solano Arana, with original music and accompaniment by Sammy Metcalfe and opening/closing narration by Camila Vecco Haddad.
This Cruceiro Paraíso is possible thanks to the support of the Diputación de A Coruña.
Gathering on Ethics and Commitment in Relational Creation
December 19, 18.30–20.30 h > Reservation form
Additionally to the Bautismo (Baptism) sessions, we have the opportunity to learn more about Iara Solano’s work at the Gathering on Ethics and Commitment in Relational Creation, which aims to reflect on accessibility and responsibility in artistic and cultural projects and processes.
Every professional relationship and every collaboration has an ethical dimension. As researchers, educators, and creators of scenic or relational art experiences, we sometimes lack the experience and tools necessary for a better and fairer development of our participatory and collaborative practices with communities, collaborators, audiences, and the environment. How do we start an honest mediation project? How do we share our practices to make our workshop more inclusive? How do we approach a collaboration or co-creation with the community that avoids instrumentalization?
Our collaborative artistic projects cannot progress unless they are based on the values of reciprocity and solidarity inherent in truly community-driven logics. Therefore, in this meeting among professionals, we propose to reflect on relational artistic creation from a more affective and sensitive perspective. Through collective dialogue, we will analyze the nature and coherence of our processes and projects when placing them within a more plural and reflective framework, guided by a mutual recognition that is more perceptive, urgent, and equal.
iara Solano Arana will share her experiences in relational creation and a series of notions and tools that may be useful for artists and researchers wishing to analyze and monitor their collaborative and/or participatory creations. Participants will also be able to share their experiences and perspectives to identify barriers and conventions, and to rethink the act of creation together. The goal is to discuss how creation can be more plural by attending to various singularities, weaving projects that promote social change in a way that not only does not compromise their artistic quality, but enriches them through new and more attentive perspectives.
