Como cuando el pelo se eriza
This project stems from an inconsistency: a torn lack of desire and a need to do whatever I feel like. From there emerges a choreographic research obsessed with whim. Capriccio from Italian: a combination of caput (head) and ericius (hedgehog). The earliest meanings of the term appear in the 13th century, referring to the sensation of a sudden shiver, like when hair stands on end in fright. During the early Baroque, the meaning evolved towards a “sudden whim.” Within that same period, the term also began to designate a type of artistic form, a genre in music, painting, and architecture.
Como cuando el pelo se eriza is a choreographic project interested in playing with and digging into a semantic constellation derived from this sudden shiver: desire, class, and time. An impatient body inhabiting a relationship with an absence, a potential of something that is not yet here, is not yet, and perhaps never will be. This speculative potential feels extremely erotic to me, and I want to embody it through “perhaps” dances and “perhaps” songs.
Blanca Gómez Terán
Blanca was born in July 1990, during a torrid summer, in the Prosperidad neighborhood of Madrid before its gentrification, under a Cancer sun with a Gemini rising that counterbalances Cancerian melodrama. She lives between Madrid and Gießen, where she is completing a Master’s degree in Choreography and Performance at Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany. This July, she will also participate in the DanceWEB program במסגרת the Impulstanz Festival.
With a background in architecture, her work moves between live and visual arts, approaching choreography as a medium for perceptual and political research. Alongside her architectural training, she has studied contemporary dance and other live arts disciplines. She lived in Brazil for nearly two years and took part in the first edition of PACAP (2017) at Forum Dança in Lisbon, where she developed her first solo.
She is driven by a visceral passion for dance and choreography, as well as a political need to think through the body. She is drawn to magic, darkness, dancing, sound, and the unknown. She also maintains a professional practice in graphic and editorial design, creating visual identities for artists, curators, and cultural projects.
Her work in live arts includes both solo and collaborative projects presented at venues such as La Poderosa (Barcelona), La Caldera (Barcelona), Bombom Projects (Barcelona), Espaço Alkantara (Lisbon), Pradillo (Madrid), La Casa Encendida (Madrid), CA2M (Madrid), Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid), Mousonturm, and Frankfurt Lab, among others.
