Todo o mundo é contra min-eh is a creation project for a performative piece based on research titled Rural e tradición, un fogar en igualdade that Sergio published in 2023 about the LGBTIQA+ collective in traditional Galician music. In this essay, Sergio reflects on the importance of viewing Galician folklore from a queer perspective, reclaiming our popular culture as a space of freedom. Todo o mundo é contra min-eh reflects on what we understand as tradition, as Galician culture, emphasizing the importance of memory, how it is created, and how it is constructed.

Sergio Marey

Sergio Marey comes from a farming and hospitality family, from the municipality of Pol in the Lugo mountains, which gave her continuous and invaluable contact with rural Galicia. This closeness guides her relationship with art under a political and social vision with Galicia. Her relationship with art is so close that she does not conceive her activity as something external, but as a relational agent that generates culture in that exchange.

This stance towards art led her to a different understanding of the arts, diverse and popular, which are threatened due to ignorance, appropriation, and continuous mistreatment. Sergio wants to make people think and reflect on the various aspects that touch our society, especially those related to gender and sexual diversity, while also showcasing the cultural richness of Galicia.

Sergio has reflected on these issues in her recent works, such as Cruceiro a Santa Librada e demáis mártires disidentes, the winning piece of the XIII Edition of the Auditorio de Galicia Awards. She works in multiple disciplines: installation, photography, writing, sculpture, performance, or video creation.

She has participated in collective exhibitions and conferences about her work in various spaces in Galicia, Asturias, Madrid, Romania, Portugal, Greece, and Argentina, and has also created costumes for various films, performances, and music videos. Sergio is the author of the poetry collection Escoradura Sentimental and the essay Rural e tradición, un fogar en igualdade (Diputación da Coruña, 2023). Additionally, her role as a curator, cultural manager, and director of the Solana gallery in Lugo is noteworthy.
